Prime Pop-Up Shop

Last Saturday the 18th our good friend Andres Rodriguez AKA Dre had a pop up shop over at Infinite SF where he was debuting his Summer 2016 Prime collection. You know Mike and I had no choice but to get a lil gang together and slide out there to show some love. Anyways, I wasn’t surprised seeing so many heads at the pop up shop once we got there… It was very cool to see everyone there rockin Prime tees & hats and hoodies. Dre’s been killin it ever since I met him a couple years ago, steadily working hard on designs, printing, etc. and the progress definitely shows! Fun fact about Dre & Tribe: Dre is the guy who actually helped us out big time in dialing in & finalizing our original “Tribe” script logo so shouts out to him for that as well. I was being lazy as ever and just enjoying the time spent over there and left all the camera work for Mike, he got some smooth shots of the whole scene, check em out!

P.S. the boy Colby Larson went crazy and carved the SICKEST Prime “feather & bolt” logo out of a big piece of wood and it came out TOO crispy…

P.P.S. On the way to SF, Mike was sayin I’m a crazy driver…  but if you ask me he just doesn’t understand the fact that if you really want to get in & out of the city you’re gonna have to bust some moves!

Road Trip

This spring break my girl friend and I planned a road trip that would pass through Arizona, Utah, and Nevada. With a fully loaded schedule and bags packed to the brim, we hit the road to our first stop, the Grand Canyon. Six hours of driving, two Mcgriddles, a couple cups of coffee and a bag of Takis later, we arrived. The view was marvelous and I honestly was pretty taken back by how massive this gorge in the Earth truly was. We sat on top of a rock dangling our feet over the canyon, a little off the beaten path and enjoyed the next hour just taking in the landscape before we had to get back in the car and head to our next stop, Sedona.

The following morning we woke up to catch the sunrise and hike around Red Rock National park. Sedona is notorious for it’s energy vortexes and bright reddish orange sandstone. After about 10 minutes of hiking, your shoes are covered in this red dust that makes it look like you just set foot on Mars. The scenery was so beautiful, the vibes were amazing, and I wish we could of stayed and explored for another few days. Sedona is the kind of place I could see myself retiring and volunteering for the National Park. I had this epiphany as we were driving out of Sedona and decided to officially add becoming a National Park ranger to the bucket list.

Our last stop in Arizona was going to be in a little city called Page. Here we had a tour booked to go check out the legendary Antelope Slot Canyons. The canyons have been formed over thousands of years of flash flooding and natural erosion. It’s absolutely incredible to think that places like this still exist and are so well preserved. Once again I was walking around with the feeling of being on a different planet. The walls of the canyons were painted orange by the sun, and carved flawlessly by the water. Photos do not do the location any justice, and it is truly one of those places you have to go see for yourself to understand how cool this place really is!

After Antelope we decided to head over to horseshoe bend to catch the sunset. The bluff over looking the Colorado River was lined with families, couples, friends, and photographers everywhere. Luckily we walked right up and found a nice little spot to sit and take in the view. I could have sat there for hours and listened to the wind whistle through the walls of the canyon, but the sun set and it was time to call it a day. Walking away from horseshoe it was hard to process all the things we had seen in the last 48 hours. From San Diego to Mars, who would of thought? It was even harder to believe that there was still so much more to see and explore. Arizona was only the tip of the berg. Next stop… Zion.

Project Pat Academy Award Winner

Fellow Martinez creative native and tribal homie Patrick Behring hit me up a few weeks back saying he had an idea for something like a commercial for Tribe... let me just tell you the man is up to something! We spoke over the phone briefly and Pat expressed to me what he was visualizing and I was most definitely diggin it. I sent an original Tribe logo tee down to Patrick in southern California & this is what he came up with; if you know a thing or two about visuals (or even if you don't) you'll definitely appreciate this short clip. Timeless, and a perfect intro collaborative project with Pat, we're hoping to cook up some more in the future. Take a look at some of his other work HERE! A HUGE thanks to Pat himself and I just wanted to reiterate the fact that Mike & myself truly enjoy this. Love always...

SUPER CITY 50

Words and photos provided by Sasan Sayyar

On the 6th of February, 2016 there was a PHAT EDM (electronic dance music) festival held at our Bay Area’s very own Oakland Coliseum. It went by the name of SuperCity50. The event was actually the largest of its kind ever held at the Coliseum. Without releasing further details, I’ll say that I knew one of the people who was helping host the party… So I was there, and I was all access. Even though my primary focus wasn’t on shooting photos but rather just to have a great time with my friends, I rented a Sigma 24mm lens for the day and the performance of it was far beyond my expectations. I managed to get a few dope shots here and there, and I must have lied to about 200 people who asked me, “Where will these pictures be posted?” LOL I lied to em’ all and said they’d be on www.supercity.com. Don’t call me a liar though, it was just easier to say that than to explain to each and every person that I actually wasn’t being paid for being there and that the photos will just be joining my personal vault of treasures… Anyways, Diplo rocked the house and so did the Chainsmokers. Big ups to Greg for getting me out there, to Neil for recommending that Sigma lens to me, and to all of yall for checkin this out.
